Forgot about that... So if you haven't already gotten it already (you should have; I'm judging you if you haven't), it's part of a quote from the best movie of all time. Here's the actual line:
D.C.:
Lloyd, why do you have to be like this?
Lloyd Dobler:
'Cause I'm a guy. I have pride.
Corey Flood:
You're not a guy.
Lloyd Dobler:
I am.
Corey Flood:
No. The world is full of guys. Be a man. Don't be a guy.
This is just one of many awesome quotes from Say Anything... I particularly like it because of it's play on a traditional masculine gender role. Corey is telling Lloyd to be a man, which is usually something said in support of abiding to masculinity. But in this case, Corey telling Lloyd to "Be a man" is actually telling him that being a man means giving up the BS that goes along with gender roles, like having pride because he's a guy.
Now I'll be honest, it's also just a catchy blog title. But just for your entertainment, here are a couple more awesome quotes from Say Anything, sans explanations about why they are awesome.
Diane Court:
Nobody thinks it will work, do they?
Lloyd Dobler:
No. You just described every great success story.
Lloyd Dobler:
I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a
career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy
anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or
processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a
career, I don't want to do that.
Lloyd Dobler:
What I really want to do with my life - what I want to do for a living - is I want to be with your daughter. I'm good at it.
D.C.:
Why don't you just call her again?
Lloyd Dobler:
I draw the line at 7 unreturned phone calls.
Corey Flood:
I'm sorry, it's just that you're a really nice guy and we don't want to see you get hurt.
Lloyd Dobler:
I want to get hurt!
